Nabi was excited to illustrate Jasmine's story, as Disney's Aladdin was an important part of his early childhood. ''When I first arrived in the United States,'' he says, ''I found it very hard to relate to western media until I saw Aladdin and could see myself in the characters. They looked like me. As such, I have warm memories of Jasmine and the Aladdin characters.''
